Ambitious College wins Natspec Award for second year running

We’re delighted to announce that Ambitious College has won a prestigious Natspec Award for the second year in a row!

Natspec is the membership association for organisations offering specialist further education and training for students with learning difficulties and disabilities. The Natspec Awards aim to recognise and celebrate excellent practice in the specialist further education sector.

We were nominated in the home learning category, after previously being nominated for and winning an award last year for wellbeing and mental health.

Iestyn Withers, Employment Specialist at Ambitious College, said: “Winning this award is testament to the hard work that everyone at Ambitious College has put in throughout the pandemic. Understanding the drastic impact the pandemic could have, the dedication of staff to ensure that our learner’s continued to receive an exemplary education provision at home was remarkable. As the judging panel stated, we managed to use the pandemic as an opportunity for innovation and positivity, ensuring that no learner would be left behind.”

Following the pandemic, our team at Ambitious College used innovative strategies to support learners, and their parents, while learning was taking place at home. The team championed a combined approach using learning packs, online lessons and resources, resulting in an increase in learners’ ICT literacy. iPads were also introduced for every young person to use and build upon their learning.

Iestyn added: “Our home learning provision demonstrated that we are ambitious by name and nature, and it is fantastic to receive this prestigious award as recognition of that.”
